Up for sale is a clean and beautiful sounding 1960 Gretsch 6161 Electromatic Twin amplifier. Built by Valco this amp packs quite the punch and does everything from a beautiful clean to nice breakup. Tremolo sounds great, although volume drops a hair when it is en-gauged. All 3 speakers date to 1960 (285009 x 2, 285018). This beauty is very original less a missing Gretsch logo and some replaced tubes. That said, keep in mind it is a 61 year amplifier, with 61 year old capacitors and tubes. If you wished to upgrade these parts I’m sure the amp might have more output (although it currently sounds great with a healthy amount of breakup and volume). Wonderful vintage Gretsch amplifier!
