1950s Marvel Slide Guitar

Located in Portland, OR

Here we have a unique slide guitar from the 1950s that’s great looking and tons of fun to play. Branded “Marvel,” we believe the guitar was likely made by Kay. It was built to be a slide guitar from the get-go and has a super cool bridge that houses a Marvel-branded pickup as well as volume and tone controls. Laminated and painted wood body in lovely condition. Neck is clean. Original three-on-a-plate tuners.

Nut width is 1 3/4 inches. Scale length of 24 3/4 inches. 19 fret Rosewood fingerboard with painted fret markers. Single coil pickup, likely a DeArmond, that sounds really great. A bolt is inserted through the heel to secure the neck joint. This may possibly be a factory feature but we can’t say for sure.

If you’re a slide player and you want something cool and vibey to take to the gig, this Marvel slide guitar would be the perfect choice. Current tuned to open D and setup with Ernie Ball 12s. Comes with a non-original softshell case.
